A little update on Natasha
I regretted this later when she had her sugar crash, but I was craving one and did not feel like sharing, so I got her her own. She did not drink the whole thing, so perhaps cream soda is not her favourite?
She's still growing like a weed, full of energy and spunk and learning new things every day. Some things I know are due to pre-school (like how she wants to trade with you if you have something she wants) and some I think are just coming with how she sees those around us interacting.
Pre-school is going well, we had a couple of weeks where she was crying at drop off and some days even crying before we got out the door! It worried me a bit, as it was such a drastic change from how excited she was the first couple of weeks she went there, but things have turned around again and she's enjoying it again. Today was PJ day. All the kids got to wear their PJs, bring a stuffed animal, and they watched Finding Nemo. Not her favourite movie, but one of the top 3 she regularly requests.
Her new love is fairies and anything to do with Sleep Beauty, although I think her biggest love for the movie Sleeping Beauty is because of her love of Fairies. haha If it continues until her Birthday, I am going to try my best to do a fairy themed party. :0) As luck would have it, I actually bought her a fairy wand (plastic/glass? filled with water, sparkles, glitter and stars etc) for her stocking last Christmas. For the first couple of weeks after seeing Sleeping Beauty she was walking around with it pointed to myself or Owen and shouting out PINK! BLUE! PINK! BLUE!
While Kate adores her, Tash is still not showing much interest when it comes to her little sister unless we initiate it. I'm thinking it will change once Kate can move and actually play with her, so at this point I'm not too concerned. One side effect, that I'm positive is direct relation to Kate is that Tash has regressed when it comes to going to the bathroom. She's been good the last couple of days, but mostly because Owen and I are constantly asking her and watching how much liquids she's drinking. But for the past two weeks, she's peed her pants at least once a day.
We know she knows better, so it's frustrating, but at the same time we understand why, so there is not much we can do other than to try and give her extra attention, make her feel just as loved as before, and ask her if she has to go to the bathroom. Hopefully it will pass sooner rather than later.
She has also adopted a favourite number - 7. Anytime she asks for anything (mostly treats) she will ask for 7. "Can I have 7 hearts??" "Is there 7?" *proceeds to count them*. It could be worse, her favourite number could be 20 or something much higher. lol She also seems to love the colour purple or pink. But it seems anything that is purple she gravitates to. Clothes, toys..I just recently noticed it in the last week. I'm sure the fact that her room and the playroom are purple have nothing to do with it at all. /end sarcasm
Yup, I busted out the swimming pool this past week. It came with 3 fish and 2 fishing poles. We spent at least an hour 'fishing'. She loved the purple fish of course and yes, you guessed it, she picked out her top. :p
Thursday was PJ&Movie day at pre-school. She chose these Carter PJs my mom bought in the States. You can't see it in this picture, but there is a bunny on the shirt, which I'm guessing why she chose these ones. And as you can see, her love of Bun Bun is still strong. She informed me yesterday that Bun Bun needed a bath. hehe We bought a 'back-up' Bun Bun a couple of months ago when BB went missing but it was no replacement in her eyes. I showed her, she took it and then handed it back to me by the ear and informed me it was NOT BB. So now it's in Kate's crib. Perhaps she'll adopt Petal.
Relaxing in the backyard after we had fished and played in her sandbox for a while;
Last night while supper was cooking she came upstairs, looked out the window at the rain and declared she wanted to go outside. Owen and I were like "Are you sure kid??" hah So in her PJs, raincoat and boots on, she went outside for abut 30 minutes. I love this set, I got it for a steal at TCP a few weeks ago, total cost was $30ish for the boots + raincoat.

Bunny Chronicles - Month Four
According to "the" Baby Centre, Miss Kate should be rolling over front to back or back to front, but I seriously slack when it comes to tummy time and well...Kate prefers to be sitting up in the corner of a chair/sofa or in her bouncy chair, so tummy time is non-existent. I'm not too worried, Tash rolls just fine, so I doubt I'm hurting my kid(s).
She still has an avid hate for soothers and an obsessive love for sucking her fingers. She also loves to chew on Tasha's old receiving blankets. I'm not sure if it's just bc she loves to chew, or because they have her big sister's scent. Either way, she does not chew/suck on the ones I made for her, so I'm more inclined to go with the latter, that it's because the were Tasha's. I put one in her crib with her for bedtime and naps, which may be why she's sleeping better? I can dream right? hah
She also has a deep admiration for her big sister. Any time Tash is near her Kate will turn her head and look up at her, smile and gurgle like crazy. I love how animated she is now. She giggles and smiles so much! I love every second of it.
Sleeping has improved. She is up on average about once a night, around 2.30 and then again around 7. At 7am I bring her into bed with me, she eats, then we go back to sleep for a bit. :0) I can't express how nice it is to sleep for more then 2-3hr intervals! She teased us and was sleeping through the night at around 3m, but it lasted for about 2w before she went back to waking every 3hrs again.
The culprit? I think anyway, is that my baby girl has started to teeth. Not quite sure how I missed it, as all the signs are there, the exact same ones Tash had (diaper rash, red red cheeks, thick drool) but I somehow did. It must have been the lack of sleep. hah

Her first Bike!
Owen and I have been talking about getting her one since last year. I actually wanted to get her one last summer but Owen felt she was still too young for a bike and had put the kybosh on getting her a balance bike.
So when we started having warmer weather, I brought up the subject again. And once again I broached the subject of getting her a balance bike instead of a bike with pedals.
Owen thought it would be silly to spend that much money on a bike that she'd used for one summer and then we'd have to turn around and buy her another bike the following summer. I thought she'd like it more, being the cautious/timid girl she is.
Anyway, the decision made was that we'd take her to various stores (TRU, CTire, Walmart, Bike Bike) and get her to try out a bike with pedals and a balance bike. Whichever one she liked, that would be the one we'd get.
I headed down South this morning, as I had another errand that way, and knew there was a TRU, Walmart and CTire all beside each other off Macleod. As it turns out, that big huge TRU is now a Visions Canada and a Sportsmart. So I went to Ctire first, with plans to then check out Walmart. I was a bit doubtful, as a couple of friends had taken their kids bike shopping and were having trouble finding one that was short enough for their kids to be able to touch the ground.
We got lucky, because the first bike I had Tash try fit perfectly! I just had to have a sales associate lower the seat. The best thing of all? No Disney Princesses, no Characters what-so-ever! Just a nice solid pretty pink. :0) I did help convince her that it was the 'one' by tellig her it said "Magic Dust" on the side because the Fairies (yay Sleeping Beauty obsession) had sprinkled fairy dust on it just for her. I know, horrible mommy tactics, but she suddenly loved the bike. lol
And best of all, Owen loved it, mostly because it was $63 total, including taxes, less than half the price of the Strider Balance bike that I wanted to get her. We then picked up a helmet (they did have a Tinkerbell + her Fairy friends one, but it was not small enough, so ladybugs it was) and 2 flashing lights, one for each tire. I'm glad I ended up at the South Ctire location, because I forgot to get her a helmet and stopped at the Ctire that is 5m from our house and their selection for girls in the 12" height size bikes was really poor.
She did not quite get the pedals at first, just would rest her feet on them while I pushed her (around the house) but after several tries on it, and me pushing her feet to demonstrate, she has started to get the whole 'turning' the pedals. I'm sure she'll be a pro before long. Hopefully she's less of a clutz than I was and we do not have too many scrapes!

Chatter Chatter Chatter
Just because. It amazes how quickly she's growing. I keep saying to Owen "Tash was not this talkative at 3.5m was she?" "Tash was not grabbing stuff at this age was she??" Time goes by so quickly!

It was too good to be true...
It's been a crazy couple of weeks. First Natasha got sick. No fever, no vomiting, just a nasty cough that sounded like a pack a day smoker's. And then just as she was recovering from that, Kate caught it. She had a nasty cough, but also was phelm-y, rattle-y chest, a bit of a fever. It peeked on day three, was bad on day four and finally by day Five started to taper off by day six and she seemed back to normal by day seven.
So after they both got well again, Kate decided it was a good time to start teething. Call me Mrs. Denial, because while owen is telling me she's teething and the signs were as plain as day, I was whole-heartedly dis-agreeing with him.
I really should have known, she has the exact same signs that Natasha did when she started teething at 7m old - diaper rash (N never got a rash ONCE other than when she was working on a tooth) rosey red cheeks and the crying for no reason. sigh
So of course after she finally started to sleep for more then 2-3hrs at a time, she starts teething. Well the 8pm-6am was sweet while it lasted. hah
A few photos of the girls, taken with my shiny new iPhone, using the cool hipstamatic app.
